Bio
Dr. Liza White is a biomedical engineer and researcher-turned-founder with deep experience at the intersection of sensor systems, biointerfaces, and microfluidic technologies. Before co-founding EliVive, she earned her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Maine, where her research focused on designing sensing platforms built on mass-manufactured textured surfaces. During her doctoral work, she developed in-line sensors, machine learning image classification architectures, and advanced image analysis algorithms to translate complex optical signals into reliable, interpretable datasets, contributing to the advancement of low-cost water sensing systems.
Trained in sensor fabrication, microfluidics, and signal processing, she has consistently translated complex signals into robust, real-world sensing platforms. Early in her research career, she developed microfluidic channel systems for controlled microdroplet sampling and engineered macrofluidic channels designed for scalable water purification applications.
Beyond engineering, Dr. White brings lived experience with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), giving her direct insight into the limitations of existing tools for monitoring hormonal health. Her personal connection to the problem EliVive aims to solve, combined with a focus on precision engineering, translational science, and scalable data systems, positions her to lead the company's technical vision in building noninvasive platforms for continuous hormone monitoring.
